55 WORD FICTION

"When will I be able to play again?"

"Maybe next week."

"I cant wait. I used to play at school. I am my school's best player".

"I'm sure you are."

How could she tell him that he would never walk again let alone play?

A wheelchair was brought in at that very moment.

A literary work will be considered 55 Fiction if it has:
Fifty-five words or less (A non-negotiable rule)
A setting,
One or more characters,
Some conflict, and
A resolution. (Not limited to moral of the story)

I had heard the saying that "brevity is the soul of wit" but you have also proved that brevity is the soul of fiction.

So few words and so deep a meaning.

I can see the use of lot of pathos in this. You seem to know the art of 55WF quite well.

Sometimes one needs to break free of the job obligations, just to prove yourself... that you are alive.

heart wrenching...reminded me of a little girl of 11yrs who'd come in news for all the wrong reasons.
An expert swimmer & school champ, she due to negligence of her swimming coach injured her spinal cord & was rendered paralysed waist down ...for life
